The United States of America 1999 National Champion
NICE GUYS FINISH LAST, BUT THIS ONE FINISHED FIRST!

The Making Of A Champion
My son Doug is in the FOREX market business. Doug's leadership and training of the USA Forex Trader, has brought many Traders in the Forex community to a winning success with his proprietary DK21 strategies.
Doug's racing story began in Sacramento, California in 1987. If Doug were to tell you this story he would say that his weight loss and most of all the fact that he has been able to keep his weight off is his greatest accomplishment. Doug weighed 240 pounds when he began cycling, today he weighs 152 pounds. There was no way he was able to keep up with the other cyclist he was with, to the point of teasing and laughing at him. The exercise training and the knowledge of nutrition has given him the tools necessary to maintain his weight loss.
In 1990 Doug and his family moved to Southern California. He began to compete in the circuit of racing in various events, with the Velodrome racing being his expertise. The past 5 years he has been the California State Champion in at least 2 or more events each year. In 1998 he won the Gold Medal in seven events in California. He has raced in 4 United States National Championships, winning 17 National Medals. In 1999 Doug won the gold Medal in the U.S. National Championships, in Frisco, Texas just outside of Dallas. He was coached by the former U.S. Olympic Coach (1980-1984), Eddie B. EDDIE BORYSEWICZ.
The day after Doug won the 1999 Nationals, I spoke with Eddie B. and he told me that on the last day of an exhaustive week of racing, Doug was going around helping other cyclist with their mechanical problems. Eddie said he told Doug that he needed to rest for the upcoming final race. As he was telling me this story he said he told Doug, "NICE GUYS FINISH LAST". He then turned to me and said, "BUT THIS ONE FINISHED FIRST". The will to win, the desire to compete, the determination to succeed is the 'MAKING OF THIS CHAMPION'.

Veledrome Racing
Track racing occurs on steeply-banked surfaces called velodromes. Track bikes have no brakes and only one gear, which is sized according to the riding style of the cyclist as well as the event.
Track cyclist can compete against each other, as individuals or as teams, or race alone against the clock. But racing on the steeply-banked velodromes requires a special bike and some equally special skills. In all types of competition, the winner is not always the fastest cyclist. Strategy can be as important as speed, especially knowing a competitor's strengths and weaknesses. All veledromes are not the same, some have a very gently banking; others are very steep. And although all are oval, some are elongated, with sharp turns, while others are almost round with short straight-aways. The intent of the track is to allow the cyclist to obtain and maintain the highest speed possible.
